Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA), Inc. announced their Savannah Stars for the 6th Annual Dancing with Savannah Stars. This annual kick-off celebration was held on Wednesday, August 21st at the Mansion. Eight of Savannah’s local celebrities were introduced to the public to announce their campaign to raise funds in support of CASA as well as train in their favorite style of ballroom dance. They are Dr. Mike Bossak, The Children’s Hospital at Memorial Health; Stephanie Burgess, Esquire, The Burgess Law Group; Kevin Cartee, Cartee Imaging Consultants; Vernon Donovan, State Farm Insurance; Lynda Figueredo, WTOCTV; Dr. Claudia Gaughf, Chatham Skik & Cancer Center; Loren Laney, Femme Fatale Salon and Monique Palmaccio, Palmaccio Management Group. Savannah/Chatham CASA’s 6th Annual Dancing with Savannah Stars will be held on Thursday, November 14, 2013 at 7pm at the Lucas Theatre. We are thankful to the following studios for serving as our professional dancers and instructors: Essi’s Dance Studio, Salon de Baile, Savannah Ballroom and Synergistic Bodies.

Funds raised from the 12-week campaign will be used to support volunteer recruitment, management and advocacy of children in the child welfare system. As community partners in the child welfare system, CASA volunteers increase abused and neglected children’s access to services, promote safety, and advocate for timeliness and permanency for children involved in juvenile court proceedings. CASA volunteers are independent advocates and provide individualized attention for children in a massive state system.

Savannah/Chatham CASA is noted for having the longest standing local charity ballroom dance event that is based on the widely popular show, Dancing with Savannah Stars.
