2nd Annual Pecan and Honey Harvest

Preparations for Asbury Memorial United Methodist Church’s second annual Pecan and Honey Harvest are well underway and organizers are gearing up for another fabulous, fun-filled day for all the family to attend and enjoy.

This year’s harvest – from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 14 in Historic Madison Square – will feature all the crowd favorites: live entertainment, a café, and a country store selling a range of baked goods and honey products, including Asbury’s “Secret Recipe” Pecan Pies, Pecan Cheese Bites, “Heavenly” Honey, and the famed Asbury clown dolls, as well as Asbury clown dogs and special collegiate mascot dogs. And for the second straight year, festival organizers are pleased to offer a fresh bounty of Elliott pecans. This meaty and flavorful variety, usually ready for harvest around October, is of very high quality and not as common as other pecan types.

Last year the festival was a huge success and this year should be even better. Pam Karacostas, Committee Chair for the festival comments, “We were very excited that Asbury is hosting the Pecan Festival again. This is a great way to enjoy downtown Savannah in the fall with your family and friends all while helping our celebratory harvest event raise funds for the church’s work in the wider community. We hope to see Savannah residents and visitors stop by Madison Square on November 14th and enjoy some of our wonderful pecan and honey products.”
