Pastor Aaron M. James, Sr., officers, and members of the Historic First Bryan Baptist Church cordially invites the Savannah community to join them in this great celebration. The service will be held on Sunday, January 17, 2016 at the 10:30am service.
The guest minister for this occasion will be the Rev. Edward Lamar Elllis, III. He graduated from Savannah High School with honors in 1987 and from Morehouse College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Religion in 1992. In April, 1994, Rev. Ellis heeded the call to preach and delivered his initial sermon at First Bryan Baptist Church. Soon after, he enrolled at the Eastern Baptist Theological Seminary, graduating with a Master’s of Divinity degree in 1997. Further, he has received a certificate in executive leadership from the Harvard Divinity School Summer Leadership Institute in 2000.
Reverend Ellis serves as the pastor of Hurst United Methodist Church in the Chattanooga district. It is the oldest African-American congregation north of the river. Pastor Ellis has been a guest preacher and revivalist for many occasions in and out of the city. He is a member of the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated.
Rev. Ellis III is the proud son of Rev. and Sister Edward Lamar Ellis, Jr., Pastor Emeritus of the Historic First Bryan Baptist Church.
Rev. Ellis is married to the former Gena N. Roberts, his college sweetheart of Savannah, Georgia. God has blessed this union with three sons, Edward Lamar Ellis IV, Samuel Lewis Ellis, and William Taylor Robert Ellis.
Please join them as they look forward to a spirit filled day in the Lord.
