Applications for the 40th annual MLK Day Parade in Savannah are now available, with a submission deadline of Nov. 30, 2018. The parade, one of the largest MLK Day events in the United States, will include up to 325 units of school marching bands, ROTC or military units, elected officials, faith groups, sororities and fraternities, businesses, schools and other organizations.
The MLK Observance Day Association’s Parade Committee annually plans the parade with the goal of ensuring that a wide range of people from all backgrounds understand and celebrate the importance of the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
Application forms, which include changes for the 2019 event, can be secured on July 1 in a variety of ways. All motorized and/ or trailer vehicles must be insured to participate in parade. The parade line-up will be published at least 10 days prior to the Jan. 21 parade day.
