The Mu Phi Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity held their annual Mardi Gras last Friday evening at the Savannah Civic Center. With hundreds in attendance the fraternity crowned Tia West as Ms. Omega 2018. The 2018 Mardi Gras event helped to generate funds for the annual scholarship drive, as well as provide an opportunity for the community to support one of the organizations biggest affairs.
Tia West, born and raised in Savannah, Georgia to Mrs. Patricia West and the late Ulysses West. Tia is an esteemed 1998 graduate of Alfred Ely Beach High School. After completing high school, she later attended Armstrong Atlantic State University where she received an AA Degree in Criminal Justice. In 2016, she obtained a B.A. in Criminal Justice Administration from Columbia College.
Tia is currently employed with the Chatham County District Attorney’s Office.
Latecka Moore Early was named first runner up. Latecka Moore-Early is a native of Savannah, Georgia. She is the eldest daughter of Angela Moore & Wilbert White Jr. Latecka learned entrepreneurial skills, strong morals, and the willingness to help her community at an early age. from her grandparents, the late Mr. & Mrs. Eugene (Bessie) Moore Sr.
Latecka graduated from Alfred Ely Beach High School in 1999. She attended University of Phoenix where she studied Psychology. She earned her Master Cosmetology License from TCI Beauty School. and has been in the industry for over 16 years. Latecka is the sole-proprietor and lead hair stylist of Luxe The Salon.
Latecka is married to Johnny J. Early and they have one beautiful teenage daughter, Taylor Early.
