2013 Teacher of the Year Flag Raising Ceremony Held

On Thursday, October 25, 2012, officials gathered at Islands High School to raise the Flag of Learning and Liberty. The ceremony symbolized the importance of quality education and represented teachers who contributed to the betterment of the community through stellar teaching practices.

As a representative of the many quality teachers across the Savannah-Chatham County Public School System, the district’s Teacher of the Year was honored with the distinction of having the Flag of Learning and Liberty proudly displayed at their school.

Allison Konter, the current Savannah-Chatham Teacher of the Year and Top 10 Georgia State Finalist, is a social studies teacher and department chair at Islands High School. Konter was named during a ceremony last year and will hold the Teacher of the Year distinction through the 2012-2013 school year. She was honored during the ceremony by district officials including the Islands High Principal, Danielle Pinkerton and the Superintendent of Schools, Thomas B. Lockamy Jr. Ed.D.
