Phi Pigma Kappa, one of the teams competing in the American Diabetes Association’s Kiss-a-Pig campaign, will host the 1st Annual Savannah Pig Derby on Saturday, May 3 from 10:00am until 4:00pm at Emmet Park in downtown Savannah (Bay Street between Abercorn and Broad Streets). A play on the Kentucky Derby which takes place the same weekend, the 1st Annual Savannah Pig Derby’s main attraction will be Pig Races with the cutest little piglets you’ve ever seen, courtesy of Savannah Mini Pigs! It’s a fun-filled day for the entire family! Admission inside the Park is free. Wristbands for play all-day are $10 and tickets will be available for individual games, food, drinks and other activities. Activities include Opening Ceremonies at 10am; a Derby Hat Parade at 10:15am; a Zumba demonstration at 11am; a performance by Richmond Hill’s Off Broadway Dance Studio from 12-1pm; Pig Races with Frank Sulkowski from 1:30pm – 2pm and live entertainment featuring The Christy Alan Band from 2-4pm.
Food will be provided by Bojangle’s Famous Chicken ‘n Biscuits, Jersey’s Pizza and Leopold’s Ice Cream. Games and inflatables will be provided by Kindas Amusement Source. A vendor expo will feature over 20 local organizations.
Kiss-a-Pig is the largest diabetes awareness and fundraising campaign of the year for the American Diabetes Association (ADA). The Campaign Chairman is Anne Bolyea and the Presenting Sponsor is New River Auto Mall Luxury Group.
