Nu Chapter, Iota Phi Lambda, Inc. Observes Business Month, Presents Awards
Nu Chapter, Iota Phi Lambda, Inc., observed Business Month Sunday, April 17,2011, 5P.M. at the Bolton Street Baptist Church, Rev. Perry Tyson, Pastor.
The theme was "Iota: Empowered Business and Professional Women Making a Notable Difference."
The prelude was played by Master Antwone Smoak. The Mistress of Ceremony was Soror Margurite B. Albright.
The program began with the Sorors and Guests marching in, followed by the audience singing "Onward Christian Soldiers."
Rev. Perry Tyson gave a fervent prayer. The welcome/ occasion was given by Soror Ana K. Fenn, followed by solos interspersed through out the program from Mrs. Phyllis Artist and Mrs. Patricia Boyd, respectively. The Rossie T. Hollis Praise Dancers performed a beautiful dance choreographed to “Serve Me With Your Whole Heart."
The Honorees were the following: Business Honoree-Minister Connie Williams. She was introduced by Mrs. Jazlyn Williams of St. Paul Episcopal Church. Minister Williams has several businesses in Savannah, among them is “The Garden of Eden.” A soul stirring solo "My Soul Has Been Anchored In The Lord" by Minister Eric Brack was rendered after the Business Honoree was awarded.
Helen D. Weathers Awardee was Soror Wakeelah Williams. The Award was presented by Soror Dorothy Geter in the absence of Soror Williams.
The third Honoree to receive an award was Soror Edith W. Moultrie which was "The Soror of the Year." She was introduced by her cousin, Ms. Prudence Gwyn. Mrs. Moultrie is a strong supporter of Nu Chapter and shows her love for the members and the Sorority by being loyal and strong. The award was presented to her by Soror Ruby Williams.
Following the presentations of awards, Mrs. Phyllis Artist sang another beautiful solo and Soror Dr. Emily Crawford gave general remarks.
Rev. Perry Tyson accepted a gift from Nu Chapter for using the his church. He gave closing remarks, blessed the food and gave the benediction.
The next meeting will take place May 7, 2011 at 1 PM on the campus of SSU. President- Dr. Emily Crawford Journalist-Dr. Gaston-Dawson.
