West Broad Street YMCA to Celebrate 63 Years of Service

The West Broad Street YMCA will be celebrating its 63 years of service to the community on the weekend of October 8.

Starting with an open house on Friday, October 8 and culminating with a singing competition on Saturday, October 9, The West Broad Street YMCA will honor those who bravely started the Y and celebrate the community that has stepped forth to make the West Broad Street YMCA a vital part of Savannah.

"Plans are still in development," offers Executive Director Peter Doliber. "But I can assure you that it will be a grand reopening of this Y, prove our progress, thank our supporters, and show our vision for the future."

One key aspect of the weekend is "Voices of Celebration! Songs of Joy and Inspiration to be held on Saturday, October 9. "This is a time for choirs, soloists, kids, and groups to have a friendly competition as we celebrate our 63rd year," says James Riles, Chairperson of the Voices of Celebration Committee. "To make it fun, we will be having professional celebrity judges and cash awards to the winner in each category." The music is to be inspirational, but all kinds and types of music are welcome according to Riles.

Registrations of choirs, soloists, kids, and groups is due by Tuesday, September 14.
