Arthur Milton presents a portrait to Congressman James Clyburn Arthur Milton presents a portrait to Congressman James Clyburn During the Georgia Black Legislative Caucus’ Summer Conference, local artist Arthur “Artie the Artist” Milton presented Congressman James Clyburn of South Carolina with a portrait. Milton just wrapped up an exhibition of portrait paintings at the Gallery S.P.A.C.E.

The exhibition was a compilation of works over the past 20 years and included large scale celebrity, family and presidential images.

The portraits included favorites such as Lou Rawls, Dolly Parton, Oprah Winfrey, and the Presidential First Family.

Milton received a bachelor of fine arts on painting from Savannah College of Art and Design, and was a member of the first graduating class of 1982. He also received a master of fine arts from the Maryland Institute of Art in Baltimore, Maryland.

Congressman Clyburn is the first South Carolinian and second African American to serve as Majority Whip in the U.S. House of Representatives.

The summer conference featured speakers and events providing insight and perspectives for Caucus members to better serve their constituency.
