“Noteworthy Art” Exhibit Begins Sept. 13 in Ellis Square

Ramblin’ Blues-Joni Bishop Ramblin’ Blues-Joni Bishop The 2010 Savannah Folk Music Festival again features the “Noteworthy Art and More” Exhibition and Auction.

Since the Festival is free to the public, the Savannah Folk Music Society raises funds to support the various Festival events. Part of these funds come from an auction of Gretsch-donated guitars transformed by Savannaharea artists into unique objects of art.

Also, fine Gretsch guitars and other items are autographed by celebrities and put up for auction.

This year, the location for the month-long exhibition of the "noteworthy art" to be auctioned at the Festival will be from Sept. 13 through Oct. 8 at the new Visitors Center at Ellis Square. The hours of operation are 10:00 AM to 10:00 PM daily.

The items will then be auctioned at two Festival events, the Friday, October 8th, Folkfest in Ellis Square and the Sunday, October 10th, Concert in Grayson Stadium.

Savannah artists participating this year include Kathy Miller, Barbara Gentry, Grace Rohland, John Mitchell, Albert Seidl, Bobby Bagley, Ila Scholla, Sue Nichols, Emma Knight, Laura Cody, Alaine Daniel and Tal Willis. The multi-talented Nashville singer/songwriter and artist, Joni Bishop, has also painted a guitar. The Society is grateful to these generous artists for their contributed services.

This is a unique opportunity to see and own special objects of art and support Savannah’s annual festival of traditional music, now in its 21st year.
