Senkowski Awarded Health Policy Scholarship

Christopher Senkowski, M.D. Christopher Senkowski, M.D. Christopher Senkowski M.D., FACS, ACI - Surgical Associates and associate professor of surgery, Mercer University School of Medicine Savannah campus, is the recipient of the American College of Surgeons (ACS) and the American Association for the Surgery of Trauma (AAST) Health Policy Scholarship for 2010.

The scholarship provides $8,000 in funding to participate in the Heller School for Social Policy and Management at Brandeis University course entitled “Leadership Program in Health Policy and Management.”

As part of the scholarship, Senkowski will participate in a joint surgical advocacy meeting in Washington, D.C., and serve for one year on the health policy committee of ACS/AAST.

Senkowski specializes in general and oncologic surgery, gastrointestinal surgery, and minimally invasive laparoscopic surgery. He was one of the first surgeons in the nation to offer “scarless” gallbladder removal. Senkowski attended Harvard Medical School. He did his residency training at Mount Sinai Medical Center and completed a fellowship in surgical critical care/trauma at Jackson Memorial Hospital, University of Miami School of Medicine.

Senkowski practices at ACI - Surgical Associates, part of the Curtis and Elizabeth Anderson Cancer Institute at MUMC.
