Walter Moore Walter Moore Lockett To Lead

SSU Boosters The Savannah State Community Booster Club elected officers for the upcoming year on last week and Bobby Lockett was tapped as the organization's next president. Other officers include Vivian Brannen (vice president and treasurer), June Carter (recording secretary), James Hall (corresponding secretary), Marget Hunter (financial secretary), Theodore Hunter (chaplain) and Francis Mobley (parliamentarian).

SSU Players Get

Pre-Season Honors Savannah State football players Justin Babb, Demetrius Edwards, LaDarien Redfield and Derek Williams have been named to the Phil Steele 2010 Preseason All- Independent Football Team. Babb, a running back and Edwards, a offensive lineman, were named to the first team offense. Redfield, a defensive lineman was named to the first team defense and Williams, a kicker was named to the special teams first team.

Batichon Leaves

SSU Staff Hans Batichon has left the Savannah State football coaching staff, after only one season. Batichon spent the 2009 season as the Tigers wide receiver coach. Prior to SSU, Batichon was the wide receivers coach at Watauga High School in Boone, North Carolina. A Haiti native who grew up in Miami, FL, Batichon played football at Appalachian State where he was apart of three national championship teams as a wide receiver.

Mavromichalis

Receives SIAC

Preseason Honor Savannah native Michael Mavromichalis was one of nine Albany State football players named to the 2010 Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Preseason football team. Mavomichalis, a senior offensive lineman who graduated from Windsor Forest High School, was named to the first team offense. The only other player with local ties to the list was Albany State senior safety Mario Fuller, who was named to the first team defense.
