According to the Fort Valley State website, the football game between Savannah State and Fort Valley State on September 11 is no longer a classic. The contest was orginally designated as the Music City Classic. Instead the game will be a home game for SSU although it will be played at Henderson Stadium in Macon, GA with a 2:00 p.m. kickoff.

The "Rumble in the Swamp"

will feature Savannah State against the Albany State Golden Rams on September 25, in Waycross, Ga. at Waycross Memorial Stadium. The classic is sponsored by the 100 Black Men of Southeast Georgia, Inc. and the 100 Black Men of Valdosta, Inc. The classic was officially announced at the “Rumble in the Swamp” kickoff luncheon and press conference on July 14 at the stadium and Holiday Inn in Waycross. Tickets for the game are $15 each and kickoff is set for 2 p.m.

SSU's Kelley Wins

Home Run Derby

Savannah State outfielder Dexter Kelley won the Florida Collegiate Summer League home run derby during the all-star break on July 12. Kelley hit seven home runs overall and hit three in the final against Brad Hutton who plays for Ohio State. Kelley is a member of the DeLand Suns summer league team.

SIAC Football Kick-Off Luncheon

The Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) will host its annual Football Kick-Off Luncheon on Wednesday, July 28, 2010 at the Henderson Student Center on the campus of Clark Atlanta University at 12:30 pm. The luncheon will feature head football coaches, players and athletic directors from all ten SIAC football playing institutions. The coaches will provide insight on the 2010 football season including expectations, key acquisitions, and returning impact players. Each team’s coach and players will be available for one-on-one interviews following the luncheon. In addition to the luncheon, the 2010 Preseason SIAC All Conference Football team and predicted order of finish will be announced. The SIAC television schedule will also be announced during the luncheon.
