Davis To Direct Fayetteville State Band
Former Savannah State band director Alfred Davis was hired last week as the band director at Fayetteville State. Davis comes to FSU from Hampton where he was band director since 2004. A Hampton graduate, Davis was the SSU band director for two years in the mid- 1980s.Wells Coaching Minor League Football
According to its website, former Savannah State football coach Robby Wells has been hired as the defensive coordinator of the Carolina Knights. The Knights are a minor league football team located in Charlotte, North Carolina. The team competes in the Southern American Football League (SAFL) South. Carolina opens their season on July 24 against the New Bern Lions.Tuskegee Receives Pre-Season Ranking
The 2010 Sporting News and Lindy’s Sports pre-season football polls were released and the Tuskegee Golden Tigers were ranked in both, coming in at 17th and 25th respectively. In 2009, Tuskegee won the SIAC title with a record of 10-2 (8-1 in SIAC) and finished ranked in every major Division II poll including 17th in the AFCA Coaches’ Poll and 21st in the D2football.com poll. Tuskegee will open the 2010 season at home against Benedict College on September 4th.
