Singleton Receives Doctor of Medicine Degree

Lori Singleton, M.D. Lori Singleton, M.D. Lori Michele Singleton received her Doctor of Medicine Degree (M.D.) from Vanderbilt University School of Medicine in Nashville, TN on May 14, 2010.

Her family was there to witness this joyful occasion. Among them were her parents, Marion and Audrey Singleton; sister & brotherin law, Lisa & Victor Hill; aunt, Sondra Barnes; cousin, Mayor Otis Johnson and other relatives from Glendale, Maryland, Chicago, IL and Birmingham, AL. Dr. Charles Alston, cousin and obstetrician from Chicago, IL, presented Lori her degree.

Her residency will be completed at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center in Cincinnati, Ohio where she is specializing in pediatrics.

Dr. Singleton was Valedictorian of the Class of 2002 of Windsor Forest High School. She graduated Summa Cum Laude from Hampton University in Hampton, V A in 2006 where she received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Cellular and Molecular Biology.

While at Vanderbilt, Dr. Singleton did additional research in Guatemala, Costa Rica and in the Emergency Room of Vanderbilt Hospital.

Her research on "A randomized, placebocontrolled trial of ondansetron, metoc1opramide, and promethazine in adults" has been accepted and will be published in The American Journal of Emergency Medicine this year.

Dr. Singleton is also the granddaughter of Mrs. Estella E. Barnes and the late Elmer Barnes, Sr. and the late George and Ruth Singleton.
