On Monday, April 19, 2010, the Communications Explorer Post students spent the morning at the WTOC TV studios learning about careers in television broadcasting and marketing.
Programming Coordinator, Christine Edwards gave students an indepth, behind-the-scenes tour of each department, including news and commercial production. Highlights of the tour included a discussion of media careers with on-air personality, Sonny Dixon and a live studio observation during the morning show.
Thirteen high school juniors and seniors representing Savannah Chatham Public Schools from throughout the district participated in this exciting career exploring activity.
Special thanks are extended to WTOC’s Christine Edwards for organizing this event and to Sonny Dixon for generously sharing his time and expertise with the students. Many thanks also to Egypt Strickland, Explorer Post Executive Officer for her participation and to Gayle Tremble, Youth Apprenticeship and Workbased Learning Coordinator for the Savannah Chatham Public High Schools, for her assistance in organizing this year’s Exploring programs.
Exploring, a subsidiary of Boy Scouts of America, strives to be the foremost coeducational youth program for character and career development.
