Morrison, Jackson and Oxnard Honored at Buttimer Awards Dinner

Tom Oxnard Tom Oxnard The Chatham County Democratic Committee held its 2010 Annual Buttimer Awards Dinner on March 4th at the Savannah International Trade and Convention Center.

The CCDC honored Howard J. Morrison, businessman and philanthropist, as the Toby Buttimer Award Recipient for exceptional dedication to service and activism within both the Democratic Party and the community.

All five Democratic gubernatorial candidates were in attendance to give a short speech at the dinner. Several other local and state officials and candidates, including candidates for the contested 12th Congressional District Congressman John Barrow and former State Senator Regina Thomas attended.

The Committee also honored Georgia State Senator Dr. Lester G. Jackson III with the Arthur Gignilliat Public Service Award and Tom Oxnard, founder of the Skidaway Island Democrats, with the Joan and Tony Mathews Yellow Dog Democrat Award.
