Listen! - Can You Hear Him?
Evangelist Rachel Thomas Continued from last week...
God was not interested in Moses having a burning experience to talk about the rest of his life. He had something to tell Moses, so He did what it took to get his attention as He still does to some of us. He is the same God today, yesterday, and forever. He changes not!
Many years later, God called a man named Gideon to deliver the people of Israel from the bondage of the Midianites - what we may remember most about Gideon was the fleece, but what would the miracle of the fleece have meant without the Voice of God in the first place? Gideon did not get instruction from the fleece. He got instruction from the Voice of God! The fleece was just a reassurance that God was with him.
Think about Lazarus, how Jesus spoke the words, “Lazarus, Come Forth!” and he was raised from the dead. Think about the demons tormenting the demoniac from Gadara, how they were sent into a herd of pigs with one word, “GO.” How about the storm raging on the Sea of Galilee was stilled by a simple, “Peace be still.” Oh, the power in the Voice of God!
Can we describe God's voice? Probably not, but we do know god speaks to us.
I remember clearly, when the Lord called my name three (3) different times in my life. The last time He called, I answered. He took me to the cross, and I was crucified in Him. Then, early one morning at 3:00 a.m., on December 31, 1974 - God's presence came into my bedroom, and I was alone crying and reading the Bible when the room lit up like 12 O'clock high noon, circled around me, and a sheet came from the ceiling with all sorts of hideous things all over it. God's voice spoke to me and said, “These are your sins.” I remember crying aloud saying, “No!” and turning away weeping and wailing from even the sight of it. Then, something wonderful happened on the inside of me. I felt so much peace, complete love, and complete joy, all of which I could not explain, but since that moment, I have never been the same again. He began to wash me with His word. I read the Bible day and night, I could not put it down - sometimes all night and all day - crying, laughing, listening - God was cleansing me, purging me for months. I began to see visions, to hear God tell of things that would happen two to three days before, and they did happen. I could hear the thoughts of other people's minds, and it was real because they later spoke them.
Well, I could go on and on about my experiences with God, and I still cannot describe to you the Voice of God, but I know He spoke to my very soul. Thank God, that morning at 3:00 a.m., the last day of December in 1974, I yielded my life to Him and entered a new year with a new life! Glory Hallelujah!
It is a wonderful thing to have the Lord pass by. That is why now, when He calls me into our sometimes 3 days, 10 days, 17 days, 19 days whatever He desires, we Shut - In close together, I am always ready to meet, commune and sup with Him, to grow in a relationship of Holiness in His presence.
It was many times that Jesus passed by many people when He was on earth, but when the Lord would stop, and speak to people, oh what a difference it made! They had the Lord's attention. They knew that He knew, who they were, and what their situation was, and that He was concerned about it and did something about it. Today, the Lord passes by in our lives. We feel His presence, we recognize His touch. However, the Lord wants us to hear His Voice! That is what will really make the difference.
Has God spoken to your heart? If you have not already heard His voice, you will. He enlightens every man that comes into the world. The invitation in Revelation says, “If any man hears my voice…” Not, if you are fortunate enough, not if you are one of the selected few, but if any man…,” God is waiting in anticipation for anyone who will open up to Him.
Perhaps you have heard Him already. Maybe He has comforted you. Maybe He has drawn near and said, “This is what I want from you,” or, “This is what I want to do for you.” The Lord speaks our language. He speaks in a way that we understand, and we know that it is from Him.
Will you hear from God? You can! Prophetess Rachel Thomas
