Pallets of materials were collected to donate to Haiti The citizens of Savannah responded enthusiastically to the City’s three-day Haitian Relief Blitz this week. An outpouring of donations filled two 20-foot shipping containers and more than 32 pallets with supplies destined for Savannah’s Haitian Sister City, St. Marc.

One container departed for the Port of Palm Beach Wednesday February 3; the second departed Thursday morning February 4.

After clearing customs, they will leave port Monday, scheduled to arrive at the Port of St. Marc mid-week next week.

Donations came from across the community, including from citizens, businesses and school children. Savannah-based retailer CitiTrends donated 35 boxes of new clothing. Home Depot offered $200 worth of supplies. A number of needed items were collected by Savannah Responds. And logistical help was received from ConGlobal Industries of Savannah and Falcon Transport of Port Wentworth.

The Blitz is part of a sustained relief effort from Savannah to St. Marc. Savannah City Council committed an initial $25,000 for the effort.
