Grant Receives Appointment to United States Air Force Academy

Joseph Grant Joseph Grant Joseph Grant, a member of Zion Baptist Church in Marietta, has received an appointment to the United States Air Force Academy as a member of the Class of 2014. He will be joining a select group of our nation's finest young people as he takes this challenging and rewarding step toward becoming a professional Air Force officer.

This appointment is awarded to only about 1500 applicants out of 10,000.

Joseph is ranked number five in his East Paulding High School class out of 580 students. He received a congressional nomination from Congressman Phil Gingrey, our 11th District Representative, and a senatorial nomination from our Georgia Senator, Johnny Isakson.

Joseph has been in the AFJROTC at East Paulding High School for four years. He has received several honors, such as the Tuskegee Airman Award, the Air Force Association Award, and the American Legion Scholastic Excellence Award.

He has also received the University of Georgia's Certificate of Merit, which is only issued to students in the top 10% of their high

school class. He was also

selected nationally out of the top 1% of all Air Force Cadets to attend a Joint Service Camp. He currently holds the rank of Cadet Colonel in his AFJROTC Unit.

Joseph is the son of Leon Grant and Mrs. Vickie Grant, and the grandson of Leon and Odessa Grant.
