Tigers Scare Missouri
Missouri broke open a close game with 14 unanswered points in a 74-45 win over Savannah State on January 6 at Mizzou Arena. SSU trailed 46-39 but Missouri held SSU scoreless for six minutes while they scored 14 straight points for a 60-39 lead with just over five minutes left. Patrick Hardy scored 14 points and Louis Arnold had 12 rebounds for Savannah State. The Tigers fell 55-51 at Western Illinois on Jan. 4 SSU used a 10-3 run to pull within two with 13 seconds left but could not get any closer. Rashad Hassan had 26 points and 12 boards while Arnold added 12 points and 10 rebounds for SSU (5-11).SSU Runs At Tennessee State
The Savannah State indoor track team ran in the 10th annul Ed Temple Classic hosted by Tennessee State on January 10. Amara Jones won the women's 400m race and was second in the 200m. Amber Hughes was second in the triple jump and third in the long jump. The 4x400m relay team was third and Sharonda Redfield was third in the triple jump. Eric Plump won the men's 55m race, the 4x400m relay team was second and the distance medley team was third.McNeill Hired At Clark Atlanta
Daryl McNeill has been hired as the new head football coach at Clark Atlanta. McNeill spent last season as the running back coach at St. Augustine's. Prior to that, McNeill was head coach at Johnson C. Smith from 2004- 08. He has also worked at South Carolina State, Tennessee State, North Carolina A&T and Savannah State.
