Bynum Named Carver State Employee of the Year

Mary Bynum recently received the coveted Carver State Bank Employee of the Year Award for 2009. Bynum, a teller at the bank's Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard office, joined the Carver staff in 1999. During her 10 years at Carver, she has become well-know for her professionalism and delightful personality.
Bynum is a native of Savannah and a graduate of A. E. Beach High School. Prior to joining the Carver staff, she worked for the CVS Pharmacy for almost 20 years. Since joining the Carver staff, she has completed several customer service and bank operations courses and workshops.
Bynum is the mother of two adult daughters, Gail Jones and Catrell Hagood, and one adult son, John Bynum, III. She has four grandsons: Niquam, Ivan, Justin, and Ira.
Bynum said that she is proud to be a member of the Carver State Bank staff and receive the Employee of the Year Award. “Our bank is involved in so many worthwhile community projects, and our customers appreciate the personal attention we give them,” she said.
Carver State Bank is a state-chartered, FDICinsured, commercial bank. Established in 1927, Carver is the oldest commercial bank headquartered in Savannah, and one of the oldest African-Americanowned banks in America.
