Regina Thomas (c), is surrounded by supporters after officially announcing her intent to run for the 12th District Congressional Seat presently held by Congressman John Barrow Former state Sen. Regina Thomas announced on Thursday, December 10, her intentions to run against U.S. Rep. John Barrow in next year's Democratic primary election.

"If people are happy with Mr. Barrow's record, that's all right," Thomas said. "But I want to give them a choice."

This will be Thomas’ second time going head to head with Barrow. Issues at the heat of her decision to run include education, economy, environment, economic development, the wars and healthcare.

“The issues do not change only the people”, Thomas said. Thomas categorizes herself as a “progressive, pro-choice, health care, not warfare candidate running to beat a Blue Dog, John Barrow, in Georgia's 12th Congressional District.” The primary election will take place July 20, 2010.
