First African Baptist Church, the oldest black church in North America will celebrate 232 years of serving God and the community.
It was constituted in December, 1777 under the leadership of Rev. George Leile.
This year the Rev., Dr. Steve Bland, Jr. of Liberty Temple Baptist Church, Detroit, Michigan will share in the weekend festivities. He will facilitate a church development workshop on Saturday, December 12th from 9-11 am.
The church will come together for their annual Christmas Luncheon at the Hyatt Regency Hotel on Saturday at noon.
On Sunday, December 13th, Rev. Bland will deliver God's Word at both the 7:45 and 10:30 a.m. worship experiences.
A Christmas banquet and celebration for Rev. Tillman's birthday will follow the 10:30 worship.
At 6 p.m. National recording artist Earnest Pugh “Rain on us”, will be in concert. Tickets are available at the church office.
