Albany State Makes Playoffs
Even though they lost to rival Fort Valley State 35-13 in the 20th Fountain City Classic in Columbus, GA, Albany State (8-2) has made the Division II playoffs and will enter as a third seed. The Rams will be making their sixth straight playoff appearance and will host West Alabama (10-1) on November 14 at 12 noon. The winner of the Albany State- West Alabama game will advance to the second round to face #2 Carson Newman in Jefferson City, Tenn.Webber Downs SVU
Webber International improved to 3-6 with a 24-17 home win over Southern Virginia. Leading by 21 points early in the fourth quarter, the Warriors had to hold off a late rally by SVU but had the game sealed when Nathan Singletary intercepted a pass with 2:37 remaining. Terrance Moise led Webber with 269 passing yards while running for 57.Miles Placed On Probation
The NCAA has placed Miles College on probation for four years for rules violations in 10 sports dating to 2004.The Birmingham based school let 124 ineligible athletes participate in sports or receive aid. The NCAA said Miles lacked institutional control and didn't have a viable rules compliance program. It accused former athletic director Augustus James of fabricating the results of two women's track meets to comply with minimum competition requirements. The school is vacating wins in 10 sports going back to the 2004-2005 season.
