St. Philip Vacation Bible School

Vacation Bible School has ended for another year, but the lessons learned shall endure for a life time. The Vacation Bible School Committee made a rewarding and purposeful change this year in its program. Purposeful because the committee wanted to address many concerns and rewarding because the change proved to be successful.

It has been said" that God gives you what you need when you need it", also that “God's time is not man's time". How true these two phrases are. . This year's theme, “Using God's Word to Handle Today's Problems: Doing The Right Thing", proved to be what we needed and on time. Sister Swannie M. Richards stated that "after fourteen years as Director of the SPAME Church's Vacation Bible School, that more was needed to address today's societal ills. That our children and adults needed help. So she prayed and asked God to show her what He wanted her to do; she waited and she received her answer."

This is what I mean by God giving you what you need when you need it and doing it in His time frame. Life is tough for both children and adults alike. However, God has given us a life plan; all we need to do is obey. Never mind that He was thoughtful and generous and gave us free-will, but remember that in His generosity He will never leave us, because He loved us first and He loves us best. That is why it is critical that we apply God's Word to our lives, daily.

We all need each other. God gave each of us a purpose in life, and that purpose will be fulfilled, be it through following the law or through Devine intervention, you will get the right answer when you need it, and that answer is that God is Love and He loves each of us and we are to love each other as He loves us.

That is the essence of the lesson that was taught this year. If you love God then you will love yourself and others. Remember, it is easy to do the popular thing, but it is hard to do the right thing.

Being a Christian is not an easy life but it is a rewarding one. It is a life of love, .service, respect, friendship, stewardship, rules, regulations, conflict, self-denial, obedience, patience, kindness, sisterhood, brotherhood, wisdom, mercy, justice, forgiveness, forgetfulness, truth, faith, loyalty, peace, grace and much more. We trust you will find it in your loving heart to join us next year as we continue to use God's Word to handle today's problems by doing the right thing and remembering the Golden Rule, "'Do unto others as you would have them do also unto you", Matt. 7:12 KJV (paraphrased).

Yes, LOVE does conquer all.
