School Citizenship Education Workshop A Crowd Pleaser

Participants of the School Citizenship Education Workshop Participants of the School Citizenship Education Workshop On Saturday September 12, 2009, more than one hundred school-aged children and their parents/guardians attended the School Citizenship Education Workshop and Back-to-School Pep Rally at the West Broad Street YMCA.

The Hungry Club Forum of Savannah, Inc., as a Community Partner with the U. S. Census Bureau conducted the motivational program and recognized participants in the 2010 Census Accurate Count contest. Gerra Harmon, a Senior at Sol C. Johnson High School and her brother, Ky Harmon, a Junior at Urban Christian Academy, were the featured youth speakers.

The Harmons and 10-yr. old Nicholas Wright received recognition in the What I Will Do to Make Sure That My Family and Community Are Counted in the 2010 Census contest. Rev. Thurmond N. Tillman, Sr. Partnership Specialist with the Census, gave a talk about the importance of an accurate count.
