Walter Moore Walter Moore Former SSU Scorekeeper Passes

Charlie Bryan III passed away on July 19, 2009. Bryan, a 1973 Savannah State alumnus, worked the scorers table at SSU basketball games while the Tigers played in Willcox-Wiley and a year or so after SSU moved into Tiger Arena. The retired SSU employee handled the game clock and later worked as the official scorekeeper.

Bellairs Rehabs After Surgery

Bart Bellairs is out of the hospital and has started rehabilitation after a recent hip replacement surgery. Bellairs, who will begin his second year as SSU athletics director, is eager to get back to work and is in good spirits.

Thompson Joins JCSU Staff

Kevin Thompson has joined the coaching staff at Johnson S. Smith and will be the Golden Bulls offensive line coach as well as equipment manager. Thompson comes to JCSU from Lane College where he was the Dragons offensive line coach during the 2008 season. This is Thompson's second stop at Smith. He has also coached at Livingstone and Savannah State , his alma mater. A three-year starter on the offensive line, Thompson was twice named to the All- SIAC team. The Decatur , Georgia native earned a degree in criminal justice at SSU in 1996.

FVSU To Celebrate New Stadium

Fort Valley State will christen their new $5.5 million stadium when the Wildcats play Clark Atlanta on 29 at 8 PM. The newly designed stadium, complete with stateof the-art score boards, a sound system, spacious walkways, improved sight lines and luxury sky boxes will seat 10,000. To help with the celebration, a parade that includes local high school bands and businesses, a special military presentation, carnival and FVSU’s Sports Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony and banquet are scheduled.
