On Tuesday, June 10, the Savannah Area Chamber held its 23rd Annual Awards Banquet. Greener Grass Hair Color and Designs, Inc. was named "Small Business of the Year" by the Savannah Area Chamber of Commerce . Other winners included Tom Campbell, benefits representative of Health Insurance Services, Inc., who received the "Helen V. Head Small Business Advocate of the Year Award;" Paul Kennedy Catering, named "Hospitality Small Business of the Year;" and In the Know Marketing & Public Relations, owned by Joe Driggers, chosen "Entrepreneur of the Year." Presiding Justice Carol W. Hunstein has been unanimously elected as the new Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Georgia. She will assume the position July 1, 2009, succeeding Chief Justice Leah Ward Sears, who is stepping down from the Court June 30. The Court has also unanimously elected Justice George H. Carley to become the new Presiding Justice. Former Gov. Zell Miller - who appointed both Justices to the Supreme Court - will swear them into their new positions in a ceremony in the state Supreme Court courtroom on July 1. More...

The 40th Southern Area Conference of The Links, Incorporated was held May 13-17, 2009. The four day event took place at the Hyatt Regency Jacksonville Riverfront, in Jacksonville, Florida. Members of The Bold City (FL) Chapter were perfect hostesses delivering southern hospitality with flair and finesse. The Savannah Chapter was well represented with twenty members in attendance.
