Runway to Recovery Fashion Show set for June 7
Raleigh Bynes participates in last year’s fashion show
Cancer survivors who are no longer in treatment will serve as models of clothing provided by Coldwater Creek and J. Parker Ltd.
WTOC news anchor Sonny Dixon will emcee the fashion show, which coincides with National Cancer Survivors Day.
“This event celebrates a survivor's journey through diagnosis, care, completion of treatment and recovery,” said Dana Coleman, co-chair of the event. “It is very inspirational and uplifting to see these models smiling and regaining their life back after the turmoil of cancer.”
Money raised is directed to a holiday fund for cancer patients in need.
Funds are distributed equally among five local cancer centers to be given to patients with the greatest need.
The Southeast Georgia Oncology Nursing Society is an organization whose mission is to promote high professional standards in oncology nurses, to research information leading to improved care of cancer patients and their caregivers and to encourage nurses to specialize in the field.
It was formed in 1985 and is comprised of 30 oncology nurses from all hospitals in the area.
