The MPC has launched a new website (www.unifiedzoning. org) that is dedicated to the Chatham County- Savannah Unified Zoning Ordinance process. The site features information about the purpose of a Unified Zoning Ordinance (UZO), as well as presentations related to zoning, minutes from committee meetings and links to other planning

resources.

The City and County zoning ordinances have not been updated since they were written over 50 years ago.

The ordinances have been amended over time; however, a number of inconsistencies and outdated procedures make it difficult for residents, developers and code enforcers to use these documents.

Charlotte Moore, Director of Special Projects, is coordinating the Unified Zoning Ordinance rewrite. She notes that public meetings will be scheduled later this year, as soon as a draft document is ready for review.

Until then, the public is encouraged to visit this website often for updated or new information.
