Walter Moore Walter Moore Tigers On Winning Streak

The Savannah State baseball team is back to their winning ways and are on a five game winning streak after defeating USC Beaufort and Concordia-Selma last week. SSU downed Beaufort 16-7 and 6-5 in Hardeeville, SC on April 8. The Tigers took a three-game series with Concordia over the weekend. SSU (20-16) won a double header 13-0 and 13-4 at Tiger Field on April 10 and completed the sweep with a 18-0 shutout on April 11.

SSU Softball Struggling

The Savannah State softball team had their losing streak grow to 14 games after losing to Winston-Salem State and Albany State last week. SSU traveled to Winston- Salem on April 7 and lost a double-header 6-0 and 8-0. The Tigers returned home to face Albany State on April 11 and lost 11-6 at the Paulson Complex. SSU's record is 14-29.

SSU Track Wins Three Events At South Carolina

Savannah State came home with three first place finishes after competing in the SC USATF State Meet on April 9 in Columbia, SC. Monique Harrison won the women's 400m hurdles (1:06.67), Sharonda Redfield won the women's triple jump (11.44m) and Shawn Souvenir won the men's triple jump (13.97m). Redfield was second in the long jump, Ruben Isreal- McBee was second in the men's 1500m run and Gabriel Davis was third in the men's 800m race.

SSU Football To Hold Orange & Blue Scrimmage

The Savannah State football team will have the traditional Orange & Blue Scrimmage to put a wrap on spring football drills. The 1:00 p.m. scrimmage will be April 18 at T. A. Wright Stadium. "It should be a good crowd. I'm looking forward to seeing alumni, fans, the student body and the entire community on campus," said SSU head coach Robby Wells.
