2009-03-25 / Social & Community News

"Thought My Soul Would Rise And Fly!" - an interactive docudrama with music and dance on the Civil Rights Movement, written and directed by Ja A. Jahannes, will be presented as a benefit performance for the historic West Broad Street YMCA.

The play shows the complexities confronting Savannah and the nation during the turbulent, heartwrenching '60's.

This show is open to the public. Ticket donations are $10 and are available at the West Broad Street YMCA.

Churches, social and civic organizations are encouraged to purchase group tickets in blocks of 10 to make available to community members and children so they can learn the authentic story of the Civil Rights struggle. Ticket purchases are tax deductible.

J-Rep has just completed public performances of the popular play "Juice" and now takes this opportunity to serve the West Broad Street YMCA in its effort to reclaim its legacy of service to the community.

With a cast of eight actors and the ITK singers and dancers, "Thought My Soul Would Rise And Fly!" promises to be an engaging evening of theater says Ja Jahannes.

For additional information, contact Mr. Peter Doliber, Director of the West Broad Street YMCA at 912 233-1951 or DeQuincey Brown, Public Relations Director for J-Rep Company at JRepTheater@aol.com

Checks for tickets should be made out to West Broad Street YMCA and in the memo section include "Tickets - donation."
