The Coastal Bank, a leading community bank headquartered in Savannah, donated 30 computers to Goodwill Industries of the Coastal Empire, Inc. earlier today at the bank's Operations Center in Pooler, Ga. Tom Wiley, president and CEO of Coastal Bankshares, rolled up his sleeves and helped load the computers into the Goodwill truck.

"It's important for locally-owned banks to give back to the communities where they do business," said Wiley. "We're not just about business - we're about community. And that community connection is more important now than ever, given the current economic climate."

Goodwill Industries, Inc. is a leading nonprofit provider of education, training, and career services. Last year alone, Goodwill collectively provided employment and training services to more than 1.1 million individuals nationwide.

"Goodwill takes the time to teach people how to become computer literate, which is an in-demand skill to have," said Steve Kellogg, The Coastal Bank's network administrator.

This gift is the bank's latest computer donation to a local agency in need. The Coastal Bank has also donated more than a dozen computers to the computer lab at Senior Citizens, Inc. That donation significantly updated the computer lab and helped interested seniors learn about technology and keep their minds active.

The bank also donated computers to the Frank Callen Boys and Girls Club's westside branch, located at 801 Brewer Street, to help replace computers which were destroyed during an incident of vandalism at the site in 2007.

Locally owned and operated, The Coastal Bank provides a full range of financial services, specializing in small business, consumer banking and real estate lending. Headquartered on Johnson Square in Savannah, this successful community bank has been serving the greater Savannah area since 1954.

The Coastal Bank has an operations center in Pooler and branches throughout coastal Georgia.
