Historically Black College and University Address

2009-03-11 / Social & Community News

You are cordially invited to participate in Savannah State University's State of the Historically Black College and University (HBCU) Address, hosted by the Savannah State University Political Science Association (PSA), College Democrats and Black Students with a Mission (BSWM).

The panel forum will commence on March 11, 2009 at 7:00pm in the Howard Jordan Building auditorium.

Earlier this year Georgia's State Senator Seth Harp introduced a proposal to merge two historically black colleges with two traditional institutions.

Even though Georgia's Board of Regents has not listed the school consolidation on its agenda, we here at Savannah State feel it is essential that students and the community began to have a discussion about the future of HBCUs.

Within that discussion we will ask the questions: are HBCUs still relevant? What impacts do they have on the community?

Joining the discussion will be several prominent members of Savannah State University, Armstrong Atlantic State University, and the Savannah Community at large. Please note that this is a formal event, professional attire is required.
