Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Celebrates 150 Years

Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church, 10008 May Street, continued its 150th Church Anniversary, Saturday, January 17, 2009 with a memorial tree planting at Stell Park. Pastor Wilson Scott, members of the congregation and guests witnessed the planting of a bald cypress tree to honor deceased members.

Among those remembered was former Pastor L. S. Stell. His sons, Rev. Louis Stell and Rev.Larry Stell were among the witnesses.

The anniversary celebration will continue with a Gala at the Desoto Hilton, January 30, 7:00 p.m. The nightly services will be, February 3-5 at 7:00 p.m. and culminate February 8, 10:00 a. m.

The theme for this momentous occasion is, 150 Years - Remembering, Rejoicing, Rededicating.

The 7:00 p.m. nightly service guest churches are: Tuesday, Feb. 3, Connors Temple, Rev. Bennie Mitchell; Wednesday, Feb. 4, Bishop Matthew Odum; and Thursday, Feb. 5, Christ Memorial, Rev. Larry Broxton. The culmination service on Sunday, Feb. 8, will feature Rev. Richard Hall of Second Arnold.
