The Young People Department of St. James AME Church presented a $1,100 check to the United Way of Savannah, November 13, 2008, in support of the foundation for victims and families of the Imperial Sugar Refinery Disaster. The youth of the church hosted a talent show to raise the money for this cause. The activity was a community outreach project for the the youth of the church in hopes of offering families a resource for food, clothing and toys for Christmas.
