Interdenominational Ministerial Alliance to Give Out Thanksgiving Baskets
The Interdenominational Ministerial Alliance of Savannah-Chatham and Vicinity is giving Thanksgiving baskets to the most needy persons and families in our community. All membership churches of the IMA are asked to prepare and give two (2) food baskets to be distributed to the less fortunate in our community. All churches may participate in this outreach ministry to show unity in the faith community to help those who need help. We are better together is our goal.
These baskets are to be delivered to the Holy Spirit Lutheran Church Fellowship Hall by November 21, 2008, located 622 East 37'h Street. The question that we must answer it seems as a faith community is, do we want to feel good about our ministry, or do we want to do the will of God. If we want to do the will of God we have a model. It is contained in the life and commands of Jesus of Nazareth. Let us then follow the admonition of Jesus to love your enemies, pray for those who persecute you, feed the hunger, clothe the naked, visit those in prison and care for widows and orphans," not as ends, but as a means of demonstrating God's love for the whole person in order that people might seek Him and live.
The contact persons for these events are: the Rev. Carol King, 656-5378 or 355-7792, , Rev. James Nelson, 233-5395 or 959- 9573 and Dr. Samuel Williams, President, IMA, 354-3995 or 433-0809.
