"Take our hand and let us lead your child to academic success" is our motto at Reading, Writing, and Arithmetic Tutorial Service.

Audrey Ketchup Audrey Ketchup Audrey Ketchup is busy preparing for her third year as a Supplemental Educational Service Provider (SES). Approved by the Georgia Department of Education, the tutorial service is geared to helping students in need of academic challenges, reinforcement, and support in math and reading for K-8th grade students.

Having worked in the Savannah Chatham County Public School System for five years, Audrey has witnessed the hard work it takes to prepare our children for success by both teachers and administrators. She also realizes that test scores are a small portion of measuring how well a school is performing.

One group of students who have to show academic progress is the economically disadvantaged students (free or reduce lunch as an indicator). These students tend to lag behind reading and math testing. The SES program gives them the opportunity to receive extra help in those subjects.

Under the No Child Left Behind Act 2001, students who attend select Title I schools and receive free or reduce lunch qualify for free tutoring in a small group setting. With the maximum class size being eight students, they have the opportunity to get the help they can not get in a class of 25-30 students.

Our program hires the best tutors, teachers and paraprofessionals at their schools. We provide the students with a snack and bus transportation home after tutoring. This helps parents who are not able to pick their children up without undue hardship. Many parents are without daily transportation and are working when tutoring ends.

"It's all about the students." Surveys taken by the students at the end of the session always mention an increase in confidence and class participation. On an average, students who complete the twelve to fourteen week program show a year's growth in reading or math. In the last two years, four out of the five schools that we provided tutorial services to have been removed from the Needs Improvement List. They have to make AYP for two consecutive years.

"If I could touch someone along the way, then my living shall not be in vein."

Reading, Writing, and Arithmetic Tutorial Service was founded by Audrey in 2005 and is based here in Savannah, Georgia.
