2008-11-05 / Social & Community News

James L. Lang, Jr. James L. Lang, Jr. Savannah resident James L. Lang Jr. was born November 11, 1932. He would like to thank each and everyone for the birthday greetings on November 10th.

In 1982, Lang retired from broadcasting in radio after 30 years. He was also employed with the Chatham County Board of Education for 22 years and retired in 1998.

Lang notes the changes and adjustments that have been made in radio in the last 30 years. He believes that the personal touch has been lost. His personal message to the up and coming radio announcers, "Continue to read as much as you can, have a voice in government. Good luck and may God continue to bless all of you." Lang is in the process of writing his biography. He said its about the beginning of his life and being a radio announcer in the south, the struggles and the success. Hopefully this will enlighten someone who wants to persue a career as an announcer.

On Saturday, December 11, 2004 Lang was inducted into The Savannah Tribune and The Savannah Herald newspapers Gospel Hall of Fame, this was a well deserved honor.

Lang is the owner of J. Lang Enterprise & J & L Mailorder Services.

"I am the same man I have always been at age 83," Lang said. "Age is a state of mind, so I stay positive and stay active and this will extend my life," he continued.

Happy Birthday Mr. Lang!
