MLK Observance Invites Student to Participate in Selection Theme

The Martin Luther King, Jr. Observance Day Association, Inc. invites all students grades 4-12 to participate in the selection of a theme for the 30th Annual Observance Celebration. The theme should focus on "The Philosophy of Dr. King" and should not exceed 10 words. The deadline for submitting is November 21. Entries should be mailed to: Mrs. Margaret J. Savannah Parkinson Support Group to Meet

SAVANNAH PARKINSON SUPPORT GROUP will meet Thursday, Nov. 6, 2008, 5 PM, at Marsh Auditorium, Candler Hospital, 5353 Reynolds St., at DeRenne Ave. in Savannah, GA. The first speaker, Hope Lyon, a Massage Therapist, will demonstrate why massage is so helpful to Parkinson's patients. Lauren Scholar, an Occupational Therapist, who also offers Electrical Acupuncture at her Rehab Center, will explain the benefits of this fairly new procedure. Grant Writing Basics and Beyond for Nonprofits

The Georgia Center for Nonprofits will provide training to area nonprofits on grant writing basics and beyond, on Fri., November 14th, 9 AM to 4 PM in Savannah. Participants will learn to craft competitive grant proposals for presentations to foundations, government agencies and corporations. Topics will include organizing information and needs, reviewing proposal format and components and understanding the process of ascertaining and meeting funders' proposal needs. The Retired and Senior Volunteer Program of EOA Needs Volunteers Share your time and special talents with others, join the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program of EOA, we need your help to help others. Through RSVP seniors 55 and older serve in various community organizations from 1 to 40 hours per week. Make your choice of where you want to serve from the many local agencies we are afflicted with. How to Be a Better Neighborhood Workshop/Seminar
