Savannah's Baseball-Lovers are Joining Forces for Children

2008-10-22 / Social & Community News

The Bethesda Home for Boys Baseball Complex is hosting the 6th annual Sycamore @ The Stadium FREE baseball camp for boys & girls ages 7-12 on Saturday, November 8, 8:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. and Sunday, November 9, 1:30 - 5:00 p.m. The Sycamore Network of Churches has rallied 40 volunteers from its two congregations and the Savannah business community to make this a totally FREE event for the kids.

Savannah Mall Chick FiI-A is donating lunches for the third consecutive year. Other generous local sponsors make it possible for campers to receive free baseball hats and t-shirts. The Julia Bass Teschke Foundation contributes the largest financial support for the weekend camp. Before Teschke passed away in 2002, she had a vision. She wanted to make a difference in the lives of people throughout the world, even after she had left it. It was her request that a large portion of her estate be used to spread the Good News of Christianity throughout the world. One of the ways the foundation does that is through this baseball camp. Because of this woman's love for others, children all over the Savannah area will learn the basics of baseball and the game of life as coaches share their time, passion, and life experiences with the kids.

Pre-registration is required and space is limited. Register on the web at www.s.icamoreatthestadium. com.
