DOE Funding Continues for Popular Youth Program at SSU
Savannah State University's Educational Talent Search (ETS) program has received $439, 406, the second of four annual installments from the U.S. Department of Education that began September 1, 2007, and will end August 31, 2011. The total award amount for the four-year program is $1,706, 432.
The ETS program, a unit of ACCESS (Assuring Commitment, Continuity and Excellence for Student Success) Programs at SSU, is designed to offer a continuum of activities, information and services to enable lowincome/ first generation, college bound students with academic ability to realize their potential for education and development beyond high school.
Services will continue to be delivered in Savannah- Chatham County to nine middle and five high schools over the course of the award period.
"We are excited to be able to continue to assist students in achieving success in Savannah-Chatham County and look forward to the continued partnership and support from the campus, community and Savannah-Chatham County Public Schools," said Hope Cranford, director for ACCESS Programs.
Established in 1890, Savannah State University is on the move to become the best value-added university in the nation. The university's 3,240 students are enrolled in 23 undergraduate degree majors and five graduate programs in three colleges.
