This is Congregation Mickve Israel's 20th year of providing ethnic food and fun with Free admission and Free entertainment: this year featuring Savannah Folk Music Society's own Hank Weisman & Bill Schumann, with Israeli dancing demonstrations provided by area children under the direction of Maxine Patterson and starring the legendary Bill Averbach in a special free performance with the Carolina Klezmer Project presented by MorningStar Cultural Arts with funding from the City of Savannah's Department of Cultural Affairs Weave-A-Dream and the Georgia Council for the Arts through appropriations from the National Endowment for the Arts.

SSU Young Democrats Events

Wednesday, October 29, 2008 the college democrats will host the 2008 women's forum at university village recreational room from 7:30pm-9:00pm. please encourage your student to come and participate for extra class credit. Participants are Regina Thomas, Dr. Teresa Winterholter, Lex Gibson, Attorney Gwendolyn Waring, and Mayor Pro tem Edna Jackson.

Thursday, October 30, 2008 at grass in front of Powell hall at 2-3 pm, the college democrats will host along with several organizations on campus the 2008 ssu homecoming and election rally. Dr. Irvin Clark will be there to address the students.

Mission Suspends Donation Pick Ups

Rev. Jim Lewis (Executive Director) announces, "Due to the spike in fuel costs, the Mission is temporarily suspending donation pick ups. We encourage delivery of donations to the Mission at 2414 Bull Street." Call 232- 1979 for more information. Old Savannah City Mission is a privately funded, local 501(c)(3). In 2007 the Mission provided over 122,000 meals and more than 27,000 emergency shelter beds without a dime of government funding and never charges for its services.
