The recently held Showcase of Champions, supporting and recognizing local Savannah area businesses and business people in conjunction with the Entrepreneurial Center proved inspirational to Barton Malow's Vice President Phil Roy.

Barton Malow was a key sponsor of the event where local firm DreamMakers Contractors & Consultants was recently honored as one of the area's award winning firms. In the spirit of the event of bringing large and small firms together to form partnerships and mentoring relationships, Mr. Roy met with Richard and Carla Dunbar of DreamMakers to discuss their firm's initiatives with the upcoming training curriculum. The most immediate need identified was additional equipment to support the students for the current semester. To that end, Barton Malow representatives met with the Dunbars on Thursday, August 14 to donate three new computer systems complete with software and peripherals. Carla Dunbar stated, "The computers are so welcome and will afford our students the necessary technology to meet today's industry require- ments."

DreamMakers is a 3- year old firm headquartered in East Savannah and born of the experience of Carla and Richard Dunbar, veterans of the local construction industry. In addition to providing consulting services to other industry firms, DreamMakers also provides hands on Apprenticeship training to the local workforce. Their programs are registered with the Department of Labor Apprenticeship Programs and as a Workforce Investment Act Provider.

The current semester commenced the first week of August and will continue through December. The most recent addition to DreamMakers program is flexible, affordable payment plans to meet the needs of the labor force. The primary goal for the remainder of the year is to increase the enrollment for the existing courses.

Barton Malow is actively pursing work in the local Savannah market and currently partnering with local businessman Roy Jackson in pursuit of work with Savannah-Chatham County Public Schools. With the intent to open a Savannah office in the immediate future, the company is committed to seeking out local firms to partner with and develop mentoring relationships as part of its outreach culture.
