Lucas Theatre and Memorial Health present Song and Dance Ensemble of West Africa
      Saturday, September 27, 8 p.m. This group of traditional musicians is directed by Bamba Dembele, who is also a big star of the Super Rail Band of Bamako as well as the percussionist in the Super Djata band Karkar; as his striking force, he uses the country's traditional sounds and rhythms. The Song and Dance Ensemble of West Africa's acoustics are powerful.

USMC Veterans Celebrate 67th Reunion
      The 7th Marine Reserve Officers Class will be in Savannah from September 21-25. All 307 members of this class fought on important Japanese islands in the South Pacific from 1942-1946. The Marines were the first U.S. force to land on a major Japanese island, Guadalcanal. Their victory there was acknowledged to be the turning point in our war in the Pacific.

Chatham Retired Educators Association
      President Hugh Golson hosted a fabulous Reception and Tea on the evening of August 4, 2008. This tea was to invite new and returning Retired Educators. There was a total of 26 in attendance. The atmosphere was astounding. Some new retirees join and paid their local dues as well. Mr. Golson was a gracious host. The repast was a beautiful spread and very delicious.
