Chatham-Savannah Youth Futures Authority to host Community Summit

Summit VIII featuring Keith Brown as Keynote Speaker

Keith "Preacher" Brown The Chatham-Savannah Youth Futures Authority is convening the Eighth Annual Community Summit. The theme of this year's summit is "Building Community Results through Collaboration." The objective of the Community Summit is to strengthen and expand partnership efforts in developing and executing action plans that address the issues facing our children, youth and their families. The summit will take place on September 25-26, 2008, at the Savannah Civic Center Ballroom.

The keynote speaker for the opening session at 6:00pm on Thursday, September 25th, is Mr. Keith L. Brown—known as the "Motivator of the Millennium". Mr. Brown is a native of Savannah and has a gift of relating to and inspiring youth. He has worked locally with Savannah-Chatham County Public School System, Hubert Middle School, and parents and students to empower and motivate them toward improving and exceeding their educational goals. He was named one of the top 50 speakers and experts in education today by Insight Publishing and one of the top 10 speakers of the International Speakers Bureau. There will also be a presentation from the Youth Futures Authority's Young Voices Youth Advisory Council delivering the "State of Our Youth." This opening session is free and open to the public. A light dinner will be served prior to the start of the program. Families, youth, and youth organizations are strongly encouraged to attend.

On day two, Friday, September 26th, from 8:00am - 12noon, the Community Issues Breakfast will include an acknowledgement of the Vision Awards recipients and the release of the 2007 Community Profile. Breakout work-sessions will include topics of: Ensuring Educational Success, Child Health (Teen Pregnancy), and Juvenile Delinquency/Parental Responsibility.
