Free Lunch and Learn with Elder Law Attorney

The Alzheimer's Association invites you to attend an informational seminar on September 25, 2008 at 1:00pm at River's Edge Gracious Senior Living located at 6206 Waters Avenue in Savannah, GA. Elder Law Attorney Bob Mason will be discussing Power of Attorney (POA), POA for Health Care, the difference between Medicaid and Medicare and how Medicaid requirements have changed. This seminar will start at 1:00pm and end at 3:00pm. It is a free seminar. Lunch will be provided and an RSVP by September 18th is required. SSU Events

September 11 The Campus Activities Board will present the 9/11 and Hurricane Katrina Candlelight Vigil starting at 8 p.m. on the front steps of the King-Frazier Student Center. The Wesleyan Gospel Choir will perform during the free event that is open to the public.

September 12 Stratton Leopold, Hollywood film producer and Savannah ice cream icon, will give a free lecture starting at 10 a.m. in the SSU Kennedy Theatre. Sponsored by the SSU Bachelor of Fine Arts Program, the event will be followed by a reception at 11:30 a.m. The event is open to the public.

Calvary Day School Appreciation Day

Calvary Day School is hosting an appreciation day in remembrance to the men and women in uniform who gave their lives for us on September 11th. Calvary Day School is honoring all uniformed police officers and fire fighters with free admittance during two home games at the Tippett Gym and also on the M.C. Anderson Field at Calvary Day School on Thursday, September 11 and Friday, September 12. Wear your uniform or show your badge at the gate for special entrance.

Massie Heritage Center Open House

Massie Heritage Center invites all local educators to attend a Teacher Open House on Wednesday, September 17, 2008 from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. Tour the facility and learn about student field trips and teacher programs. Visit the Heritage Classroom to experience school life of the late 1800's. Find out how Massie can enhance a student's educational journey. District 7 Officials to Hold Joint Town Hall Meeting September 22

Savannah-Chatham Board of Education District 7 Representative Julie Gerbsch and Chatham County Chairman Pro-Tem & District 7 Commissioner Dean Kicklighter will hold a joint Town Hall meeting Monday, September 22, 2008 at 6:00 p.m. at the Tom Triplett Park Pavilion located in Pooler. Commissioner Kicklighter, Representative Gerbsch and key staff members will provide updates on issues of interest to West Chatham county residents including new schools, Pre-K availability, the school district's new accountability system, parks and recreation projects, policing, library services, and roads and drainage projects. The meeting is open to the public and residents are encouraged to attend.

Energy Police Meeting

Thanks to a new state law, you or your business can get tax credits for energy efficient and renewable energy technologies. Ben Taube, the executive director of the Southeast Energy Efficiency Alliance, will speak about energy policy and the tax credits to the Savannah chapter of the United States Green Building Council on Sept. 23. Volunteers wanted!!

There will be a fun social welcoming all volunteers to Skidaway Island State Park on Saturday, September 20 & 27, 2008 from 6pm-7pm. Current needs include volunteers for the haunted trail, and other events at the Falloween Festival on October 25 as well as volunteers for general needs around the park.
