Project YESS holds Summer Awards Program

Project YESS, Youth Employment Strategies Services, held its Summer 2008 Awards Program on Friday, August 22, at the St. Pius Family Resource Center. The Project, with the financial support of various businesses, allows students to gain valuable hands-on experience as they earn summer wages. Project YESS was founded by Mrs. Rosemary Banks and the Project's Director is Ms. Ailerua Crawford.

The Mistress of Ceremony for Friday's program was student participant, Alexis Maynor. Other students on the program included: Miande Priester, Greetings; Ethan Brown, Moment of Faith; Cheryl Lordnum, song; Deja Brown and Devon Loucks, The Difference YESS Made; and Lutricia Logan, Blessing.

Nuggets of Knowledge were offered by representatives from two of the worksites: Tanya Milton of The Savannah Tribune and Pam Jones of the Frank Callen Boys & Girls Club. Ms. Crawford presented certificates of appreciation to the worksite representatives in attendance and Mrs. Banks gave words of thanks and recognition to Worksite Sponsors.

This year's Project YESS Worksites and Participants were: Abercorn Family Dentistry, Alex Arkwright; Ethan Brown, The Art of Ligel; Miande Priester, Cosmetology Institute-Hair; D&D Photography & Design, Deja Brown; Frank Callen Boys & Girls Club-Charlton Street, Jared Kolleh; Frank Callen Boys & Girls Club-Kayton Homes, Alexis Maynor and Christopher Coleman; Safari International, Ivy Holmes and Kristina Cookianas; Oglethorpe Realty Company, Devon Loucks; The Savannah Tribune, Lutricia Logan; Wrights Daycare, Cheryl Lordnum; and Donna's Delicious Delites, Dion Arkwright.

Other Project YESS supporters include: Frank Callen Boys & Girls Club Alumni Association, The Herald, Junior Achievement of Georgia-Savannah District, Mindy Saunders, Chatham-Savannah Authority for the Homeless, Sidney A. Jones & Campbell Funeral Home, St. Pius Family Resource Center, Dr. Ann Linton, Baldinos Subs, and Krogers.
